Since its historic debut in 1986, Boise State's blue turf has been the most recognizable field in college football — the first non-green artificial turf ever installed in the world. The Turf

This exact surface has been in play at Albertsons Stadium since 2019 and is being removed in June and July 2026 to make way for the seventh edition of The Blue — making every piece a true final chapter collectible. Boise State obtained a federal trademark registration for "the color blue as applied to artificial turf" in 2011 — one of the most legally and culturally distinctive playing surfaces in the history of American sports.
