Auction Item: #1 Limited Edition "Home of the Blue Turf" Framed Print
Clean. Iconic. Enduring.
This unique architectural line framed print honors Albertsons Stadium—home of the blue turf—and captures the stadium that helped bring Boise State into the national consciousness.
This beautifully framed limited edition print is #1 (of only 2026) and certain to become a coveted collectible for college football fans who understand the power of “The Blue”.
In 1986, then-Boise State University Athletic Director, Gene Bleymaier, unveiled one of the most innovative marketing tactics in sports history - artificial blue turf. Since its historic debut, Boise State’s blue turf has become the most recognizable field in college football. Officially named Lyle Smith Field at Albertsons Stadium, “The Blue” was the first non-green artificial turf in the world.
This print integrates the history of the blue turf and the significant renovations of Albertsons Stadium dating back to its opening in 1970. This edition includes the renovations completed in time for Boise State’s inaugural season in the Pac 12 Conference in 2026.
Perfect for an office, study or any place of Boise State pride, it’s a tribute to a building where innovation and excellence coexist.
